Parejo is built so we don’t need your data. There are no accounts, no cookies and no advertising trackers. This page explains exactly what happens to the information you put into Parejo.
What stays on your device
Your groups, members, expenses and settings are stored in your browser’s local storage on the device you use. Receipt photos (a Pro feature) are stored in your browser’s IndexedDB and are never included in share links or sent anywhere. Clearing your browser data removes them.
Share links
When you share a group, its data (names, expenses and amounts, but not receipt photos) is compressed into the part of the link after the “#”. Browsers don’t send that part of a link to our server, so we never receive it. Anyone who has the link can read the group and add to it, so share it only with the people in the group.
Anonymous usage counts
To learn which parts of Parejo are useful, the app sends a small anonymous event to our own server (getparejo.com/e) when something happens: the app is opened, a group is created, an expense is added, a group is shared, the Pro screen is opened, a checkout button is tapped, or you return from checkout. Each event contains only the event name, the plan or button involved, the app language and where the visit came from (for example “direct” or the referring website’s domain). Cloudflare adds the country. We do not store IP addresses, set cookies, create a user or device ID, or send any group names, member names, amounts or receipts. The referral source is kept in your browser’s session storage until you close the tab. Events are deleted automatically after about 13 months.
Services we rely on
- Cloudflare hosts getparejo.com. Like any web host, it processes standard request data such as your IP address to deliver the site. We also use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts page visits in aggregate without cookies and without collecting your group data.
- Google Fonts serves the typefaces, which means your browser requests them from Google.
- open.er-api.com provides daily exchange rates. Your browser fetches them directly; no group data is sent.
- Stripe processes Pro purchases. If you buy Pro, you enter your payment details on Stripe’s checkout page, and Stripe’s privacy policy applies. We receive the receipt details Stripe provides to merchants, such as your email and the amount paid.
- Lemon Squeezy sells Pro as our merchant of record. When you open checkout, your browser loads Lemon Squeezy’s checkout script (lemon.js) from app.lemonsqueezy.com and you enter your payment details in their checkout window; Lemon Squeezy’s privacy policy applies. We receive the order details Lemon Squeezy provides to sellers, such as your email, country and the amount paid. The checkout also carries which plan you chose and an anonymous group code so we can restore a Trip Pass.
