A free Splitwise alternative with no daily expense limit
Splitwise is a great app, but its free plan now limits how many expenses you can add per day. Parejo is a simple bill splitter for trips and groups: unlimited expenses, free currency conversion and no sign-up.
Why people look for a Splitwise alternative
According to Splitwise’s help center, free Splitwise users can add up to 4 expenses each day, and features like currency conversion, receipt scanning, search and charts are part of Splitwise Pro, a subscription. On a normal week at home that limit is rarely a problem. On a trip it is: a single travel day can easily include a taxi, breakfast, museum tickets, lunch, groceries and dinner, often in a foreign currency.
Parejo was built for exactly that situation. Every core feature is free, there is no cap on expenses or groups, and you can log each expense in the currency you actually paid in.

What Splitwise does better
We would rather you pick the right tool than the one we made. Splitwise is the better choice if you need:
- Real-time sync with accounts. Everyone’s phone updates on its own. In Parejo, the group lives on your device and travels inside the share link.
- Recurring expenses for rent, subscriptions and bills that repeat every month.
- Receipt scanning and itemization (Pro), where items on a bill are assigned to specific people.
- Balances across many groups and friends in one account, with years of history and search.
- Payment integrations in the countries where Splitwise offers them.
What Parejo does differently
- No daily limit, ever. Log every taco and taxi the moment it happens.
- No sign-up for anyone. Send the link in the group chat; friends add expenses from their browser.
- Multi-currency for free. Log pesos, dollars, euros, shekels, pounds and more. Parejo converts to the group’s currency at the day’s rate and keeps the rate it used on each expense.
- Private by default. No accounts and no server holding your groups. Data stays in your browser, and shared groups travel in the part of the link after the “#”, which browsers don’t send to servers.
- A summary image for the chat. One tap makes a “who pays whom” image to drop in WhatsApp.
- English and Spanish, with pesos treated as a first-class currency.
How to switch in three steps
- Settle what’s open in Splitwise. Parejo can’t import Splitwise data, so close out old balances first.
- Create a group in Parejo for your next trip or event: name it, pick the main currency and add who’s in.
- Share the link in your group chat. Anyone can add what they paid; at the end, Parejo shows the fewest payments to square everyone up.
Questions
Is Parejo really free with unlimited expenses?
Yes. Creating groups, adding as many expenses as you want, converting currencies, sharing by link and settling up are free with no daily limit. Pro is an optional one-time purchase ($4.99 for one group or $14.99 for all groups) that adds receipt photos, CSV and PDF export, custom categories and summary images without the Parejo watermark.
Can I import my Splitwise groups into Parejo?
Not yet. Parejo has no Splitwise import. The cleanest switch is to settle up your open Splitwise balances and start your next trip or group in Parejo.
Does everyone in the group need Parejo?
No account and no app are needed. Friends open the share link in any browser, add their expenses and send the link back. Parejo merges everyone’s changes.
Is Parejo a good fit for long-term roommates?
It works, but Splitwise has features that suit years-long households better, such as recurring expenses and accounts that sync automatically across devices. Parejo is strongest for trips, events and short-lived groups.
